What's on this worksheet
Numbers with one to three whole-number digits and two or three decimal places. Students write the value of the underlined digit, such as 0.07 for the 7 in 45.372. Each sheet comes with an answer key on a separate page.
Teaching tips
- Have students read each number aloud with its place names: 45.372 is forty-five and three hundred seventy-two thousandths.
- A place value chart with columns for tens, ones, tenths, hundredths and thousandths makes the value of each digit easy to see.
- Ask what happens to the value of a digit when it moves one place to the left. It becomes ten times greater.
